Harmonizing music and stories for the soul.
Peter Grey - The Old Black Curtain Review
"The Old Black Curtain" is a heartwarming novel.
Paxton managed to intertwine her love for music into the lives of the two main characters and inevitably lovers, Michael and Catherine. You can tell much of the author's life and passions are reflected into this piece of literature. At the beginning of the novel, Michael is a man heartbroken with grief and weary about his future, but when he meets a young woman named "Catherine" everything changes.
I confess I expected the story-line to go in the traditional route, one that is more commonly seen in romance novels. I was delighted to find the ending was a bit unexpected, and was satisfied when I reached the final page. This story is about heartache and pain, and the willingness to try again. I think if anyone is going through tough times, particularly relationships with a significant other than this is the book for you.
Generally speaking I do not read contemporary romances, but the smooth flow and effortless pace of "The Old Black Curtain" kept me engaged to the end. It was nice to unravel the mystery that is "Catherine Miller" and learn about the secrets of her path as the readers geared up towards the final climax. Overall, a nice read for anyone looking for a goodhearted romance story with a deeper meaning to keep them pondering for days.
